Biological age vs. pace of aging
- Biological age is a cumulative estimate — where you are now.
- Pace of aging is a rate — how fast you are accumulating change, expressed as years of biological aging per calendar year.
- Pace responds faster to lifestyle change, which makes it the more actionable number over a 6 to 12 month window.
What it does not do
An epigenetic clock is not a diagnostic test, does not detect disease, and does not replace standard screening. It also has real measurement variability, so a swing of a year or two between draws is noise rather than signal.
